CBD Frenzy!

CBD is everywhere and pretty soon it’s going to be in almost everything. Isn’t it just like us to go “all in” with something, before there’s actual scientific evidence that it works. It reminds me of tea tree oil. They started putting TTO in toothpaste, shampoo and bath salts years ago, without any research to back its efficacy. CBD oil has very little scientific research supporting it’s wild indefensible claims, and yet so many want to get in on the action. Yes folks, you can buy wine with CBD, thanks […]

Women Crushing it in the Wine Business

I love this saying by Laurell Hamilton, “They say that there is no light without dark, no good without evil…” These are dark times for sure, but I really believe that they will be followed by light, and I’m already seeing the signs, I mean vines 🙂 Women are crushing it in the wine business! The wine industry has largely been a male dominated industry, but here’s a snap shot of women, who have infiltrated this old boys club, and are setting roots. The following has been excerpted from Wine […]

Rest In Peace Ben Moreno

Rest in peace my dear friend Ben Moreno. I will so miss your generous compassionate heart, our friendly spats over politics, sharing our love of music and art, your amazing talent and your wicked humor. Ben was an ridiculous artist, but more importantly a super cool human. To say he was generous or kind- hearted doesn’t even come close. When Dawn and I first started on this crazy path to the poorhouse, we needed to find an artist to help design our wine label. After doing some deep CIA style […]

Falling for Fall

I absolutely love Fall. I love all the seasons, but Fall is by far my fav. This is the time of year when I switch from white wine to red. I’m not sure why. We had unusually warm weather this week, and I found myself going back to white, so I’m guessing it’s a temperature thing. Does everyone do this? Here’s a fun article on white wine in the Winter : https://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/white-wine-winter-talking-points-article The weather, the colors, the smells and the food are all good reasons to love Fall. Pumpkin everything, […]

5k Chardonnay at Chicago Marathon VIP Experience

Hey there! We had a blast supporting the CARA VIP Experience at the Chicago Marathon. This was an early am curtain call, so we went with a 5k Chardonnay white wine punch that was light and lively! It was truly inspiring to see people of all ages pushing themselves to the limit. There was a ton of family support for these runners. CARA did a great job of organizing this event. There were complimentary massages, real toilets, snacks, beverages, beer and of course our 5K Chardonnay wine punch! A few […]

Champagne and Sparkling Wine, whats the difference?

Being in my late 20’s I will be the first to admit that most of my friends know very little when it comes to Champagne and Sparkling wine. One of my biggest pet peeves is hearing them call everything that has bubbles “Champagne”. It also seems to annoy them when I correct them, which is when they usually say something snarky like “whatever, same difference!” So I would like to set the record straight, right here and now and explain to my friends, and anyone else who may be confused […]

New World wine vs Old World Wine for us Newbies

Recently, I decided to take a class on New World wine vs Old World wine. Old World wines are wines that originate from: Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean Basin. These areas have the longest history in wine making. Did you know that they don’t even classify Old World wines by their grape varietal? How are people supposed to know what they are drinking? I will tell you how; Old World wines use the terroir to classify the wine instead of using the varietal name. This is because Old […]

Music for your Wine and Runs

Music for your Wine and Runs Studies have shown that listening to music during a run works wonders on the mind and body. Not only can it improve results by acting as a motivational tool and as a distraction from fatigue, but it can help improve lung function. Music reduces your perception of how hard you are running by about 10%. Lowering your perception of effort and blocking some of the internal stimuli trying to reach your brain such as fatigue. Music elevates positive aspects of mood such as excitement and […]
